Monday wrap: NP girls win HHC title

New Palestine's girls soccer team completed a perfect run through the Hoosier Heritage Conference Monday, beating Shelbyville 13-0.

The Dragons were unscored upon in HHC play, outscoring opponents 44-0 in the seven conference games. This is the Dragons' second straight HHC championship.

NP celebrated Senior Night for the most decorated class in its history -- which is now 61-7-9 in four years and is unbeaten in 41 consecutive regular-season games. All 11 seniors started tonight and several collected goals.

The 13 goals is two shy of the school record of 15.

Eleven different Dragons scored and 15 players ended up on the scoresheet. Leading goal scorer Lauren Joray, a junior, added to her total with two goals and two assists, but the seniors stole the show. Maddie Fry had two goals and an assist -- her second multi-goal game of the year. Lindsay Meyer had a goal and three assists -- raising her assists total to 17 on the season. Seniors Jordan Barton, Lauren Kehrt, Morgan Parish and Richelle Dennison all scored. Kalli Shepler-Tucker added three assists, while Lindsey Kehrt and Emilee Larson also notched assists. Morgan Carpenter had strong play in the box, while goalkeeper Holly Hilton shared the shutout with Kenzie Morgan.

Also registering on the scoresheet were Kristin Wagner and Amy Hilton (G, A each), Madison Parish and Jennifer Roberts (1 goal each).

The 13th-ranked Dragons hit the road Tuesday for a match at No. 6 Guerin Catholic. Kickoff is 5:45 p.m.
