Friday football

It's a big night as HHC play opens. Note that start times have changed due to heat.

Join us for Pendleton Heights at New Palestine, which is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. Listen to Andrew & Mike at 7 p.m. on www.hancockcountysports.com. NP has a strong passing game led by Connor Simmons, who has thrown 200+ yards in both games. PH is led by RB Jacob Lyons, who is averaging 144ypg. Both teams are 2-0. One will have its first 3-0 start in more than a decade.

Also, Yorktown at Mt. Vernon features 2-0 teams. Kickoff has been moved to 8 p.m. MV's defense pitched a shutout in Week 1, but the Marauders offense kicked into high gear last week. Tyler Dicks had 309 of MV's 612 yards in a 63-44 victory over Marion. Yorktown has defeated Muncie South and Indianapolis Northwest.

Delta at Greenfield-Central is the night's other marquee game. Last year, Delta won 6-0 in a defensive slugfest. Delta QB Ozzie Mann is one of the HHC's top passers. G-C's Matt Dickerson is one of the best all-around athletes. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. Our friends at WRGF-89.7 will have the call.

One last game pits Rushville at Shelbyville. The Lions are 2-0, the Golden Bears 0-2 against two strong foes. Our friends at WIFE-94.3 and WSVX-1520 will have the call.
