Wednesday wrap: NP tennis wins


New Palestine's new tennis lineup is a perfect 2-0 -- and the Dragons now 5-2 on the year -- after a 3-2 victory over Franklin Central Wednesday afternoon.

NP won all three singles matches. At No. 1, Reid Clark won 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. He is now 2-0 at the top singles spot. Brent Barrett won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2, while Shayan Khokhar won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3.

FC took both doubles matches in straight sets.

NP's JV beat an undefeated Flashes squad 12-6.

Anderson 4, Mt. Vernon 1: The Marauders dropped a 4-1 decision to Anderson. Bryce Bobb was the Marauders' winner at No. 1 singles, with a 6-1, 7-6 victory. The rest of the matches were close -- MV's Kendall Ryan and Corey Beck both dropped three-set singles matches. Both doubles matches came down to a single break in the first set.

MV is now 3-3 on the year.

Lapel 3, Eastern Hancock 2: The Royals got two victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, from Kyle Kramer (6-1, 6-1) and Aaron Speas (6-1, 6-0). Lapel won three straight-set matches to clinch the victory.


Late Tuesday
Volleyball: Daleville 3, Eastern Hancock 0: The Royals fell 25-17, 25-22, 25-18 to a Delaware County power. Jordian  Eastes had six aces and 11 assists for the Royals. Melissa Bedell had eight kills, while Taylor Mercer added five kills. Tori Bednarski had 11 digs. The Royals next play Thursday vs. Blue River.
