Saturday results

Eastern Hancock continued its roll at the end of the regular season, winning its 10th straight game Saturday night by beating Hagerstown 65-54 on the road. The Royals finish the regular season 17-3 -- one of their best seasons in school history. Dustin Smith had 22 points -- including a perfect 11-of-11 from the free-throw line -- and Jared Pyle scored 20 and grabbed 12 rebounds. Steven Stunda had seven points and eight boards, while Zach Kissick scored 11. EH led 22-13 after a quarter and led at every quarter break thereafter. It's the second-best regular season in EHHS history, according to EHHoops.com.

New Palestine closed the regular season on a high note, as the Dragons beat Greenwood 63-58. NP finishes the regular season with a 9-11 mark and snaps a three-game skid in a busy end-of-season stretch.

Also, in swimming and diving, Greenfield-Central's 200 free relay team of sophomore Patrick Stutz, senior Bryan Forbes and juniors James Young and Austin Wilburn finished 12th in the IHSAA State Finals with a time of 1:27.68. Bloomington South's winning time was 1:24.85.

Next week, boys basketball sectional play begins. On Wednesday night, Greenfield-Central (9-11) opens against Pendleton Heights in the 4A New Castle sectional at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Hancock (16-3) opens against Cambridge City Lincoln in the 2A Hagerstown sectional at 7:30 p.m.

Mt. Vernon and New Palestine open Friday at the NP sectional. The Dragons (9-11) open play at 6 p.m. Friday against No. 5 Hamilton Heights, with MV (7-13) following against either No. 2 Rushville or Shelbyville. Join Andrew & Chris for the play-by-play call starting at 5:35 p.m. Friday afternoon!
