Penley, Collins Dickerson make All-State teams

New Palestine WR/DB Josh Penley and Greenfield-Central RB/DB Matt Dickerson were announced as a member of the Associated Press Class 4A All-State team, both as defensive backs.In addition, New Palestine WR Brandon Collins was an All-State wide receiver.

Penley had a tremendous senior year, with 883 receiving yards and 17 receiving touchdowns this season. He also had six interceptions, an interception return for a touchdown and two fumble recoveries as a defensive back, helping lead the Dragons to a 10-1 record, a second straight Hoosier Heritage Conference championship and the No. 1 ranking in the Class 4A poll at the end of the season. He is the Dragons' all-time receiving touchdowns leader. Penley was also named honorable mention at WR.

Collins also had a big senior year, with 60 catches, 923 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. He set New Palestine's single-season and career receptions records and the single-season receiving yards record.

Dickerson had four blocked kicks, five interceptions -- three of which he returned for touchdowns. He also had three kick returns for TDs. On offense, Dickerson accounted for 547 yards of total offense and four touchdowns.

Also, four other Dragons, two Royals and one Cougar were named as honorable mention All-State players:


For NP:
  • QB Connor Simmons: 2,795 yards passing, 35 TDs. Set all NPHS single-season and career passing records.
  • OL Mitch Disman: Offense produced 4,352 yards of total offense and scored 57 TDs
  • DL Chris Wolf: 5 sacks, 6.5 TFL on defense that produced three shutouts this season.
  • LB Brandon Wiggins: 105 tackles, 1 sack, 6 TFL. Leading tackler on defense. 
For G-C
  • K Austin Frazier: 9-13 FG, 27-29 PATs, long 37.
For EH:
  • RB Spencer Gilbert: 1,007 yards rushing, 9 TDs; 1,182 yards from scrimmage, 10 TDs.
  • DB Dalton Korlowicz: 94 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 forced fumbles
