New polls out

Mt. Vernon's girls basketball team moved two spots to No. 3 in the Class 3A poll this week.

The Marauders had been No. 1 since the preseason poll, remaining there after a loss to Lawrence Central. MV moved two spots after last week's loss to Anderson, a team receiving 4A poll votes.

MV is the only county team receiving votes in either the boys or girls poll.

MV is also ranked No. 18 overall in the IBCA poll.

Interestingly, the Sagarin computer rankings have the Marauders boys AND girls teams both ranked No. 2 in Class 3A. The MV boys are currently 2-2, but have played the second-toughest schedule in the state.
