Softball pairings: Dragons, Marauders draw each other

New Palestine and Mt. Vernon have drawn each other in the bye game of the Hamilton Heights softball sectional.

The Dragons and Marauders will meet in the first semifinal at HH in the sectional, which will be played at 5:30 p.m. May 24. The winner will play in the title game on Thursday, May 26. MV won the regular-season matchup 9-2. NP is the three-time defending sectional (and regional) champion in the 3A field.

Meanwhile, Greenfield-Central drew a bye in the Pendleton Heights sectional. The Cougars will face either PH or Muncie Central in the semifinal round of the seven-team 4A sectional.

Eastern Hancock will face Northeastern in the first round of the eight-team Shenandoah sectional. The winner will face either Cambridge City Lincoln or Knightstown in the semifinal round.
