Afternoon girls hoops: G-C, MV win

Mt. Vernon gave head coach Julie Shelton her 200th career victory this afternoon with a 70-61 road victory at Hamilton Heights.

The Marauders jumped out to a 22-8 lead early and held on against the Huskies, despite battling foul trouble and more. Guard Jessica Brown scored 25 points for MV, which played without center Makenzi Reasor due to illness.

The Marauders will next play Tuesday against Muncie Central. Next Saturday, join Chris Lambert for MV vs. Pendleton Heights, live on HancockCountySports.com at 2:10 p.m.

Greenfield-Central also won today, beating Marion 48-42. LaRae Cruz scored 20 for the Cougars. Katie Peters added 10 points for G-C, which is now 2-3 on the season.
