Thursday roundup

Baseball: Greenfield-Central beat Knightstown 17-4, improving to 8-5 on the year. Curtiss Irving homered and drove in four runs for G-C. Jared Banton had two hits and three RBI, Clark Pence had three hits and drove in two. Jordan Keener allowed five hits and three earned runs in five innings to get the win. 

Softball: New Palestine defeated Shelbyville 10-4. Audrey East had three hits, including a tiebreaking three-run homer, and two runs to lead the Dragons. Lizzie Garrison had the win in relief. Erin Lehman, Markie Wood and Megan Prosser all had two hits for the Dragons (8-4, 1-1 HHC)

Greenfield-Central beat Yorktown 10-0. Tori Cuebas homered and drove in four runs to lead the Cougars. Ashley Whitaker and Sami Frazier had two hits each. Frazier allowed five hits in pitching a shutout for G-C (8-4, 3-0 HHC).

Mt. Vernon beat Fishers 14-6, using a seven-run second inning to go ahead 9-2.

Eastern Hancock beat Triton Central 10-1. Caity Knopp homered and drove in four runs for EH. Savannah Blevins was 3-for-4 with an RBI. Taylor Mercer struck out seven in a complete-game win. EH is 10-3 heading into tonight's game at New Palestine.

Tennis: Mt. Vernon beat Yorktown 4-1. MV winners were Clara Ruegesegger, Ellie Nowak, Meg Yeadon/Katie Arthur and Kelsi Tammen/Lakin Hocker. All were in straight sets.
