Cougars split twinbill

Greenfield-Central opened the area baseball season Saturday, splitting a twinbill with Richmond.

The Cougars fell 9-5 in the opening game, giving up five runs in the seventh inning after being tied 4-4 going into the final inning. Kristian Rodriguez drove in three runs and scored once. G-C then rallied to win the second game 12-2 in five innings, scoring three runs in each of the first two innings and adding five in the fourth.

The baseball and softball seasons hit high gear this week throughout the county.
