Saturday games

After a thrilling last-second win over Eastern Hancock, the New Palestine Dragons fell to 1-3 on the year after a 74-61 loss at home to Rushville. NP will travel to Greenfield-Central next Friday for a game we will broadcast LIVE on HancockCountySports.com.

Eastern Hancock improved to 3-1 with a 56-37 win over Southwestern (Shelby). EH plays its next two games on the road, starting with a visit to Northeastern next Friday.

Greenfield-Central (0-4) dropped an 84-51 decision to Southport, and will open conference play at home next Friday against NP on our Hancock County Game of the Week.

In girls action, Mt. Vernon beat Pendleton Heights 43-42 with a free throw in the final second. The second-ranked Marauders (6-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten.

New Palestine beat Delta 62-58, surviving a torrid 32-point fourth quarter by the Eagles. Bethany Murrell had 21 points, hitting 6-of-7 from 3-point range, for the Dragons (2-4, 1-0).

Greenfield-Central (3-4, 0-2) fell to HHC rival Rushville 55-36, as the Lions' Shelbie Justice scored 30 points and topped the 1,000 mark for her career.

Union County topped Eastern Hancock (1-5) 50-36.
