New Palestine 59, Franklin Central 46:
The New Palestine Dragons improved to 1-1 on the year with an impressive victory over Franklin Central. The Dragons outscored FC 19-9 in the third quarter to open up a 41-30 lead, and then boosted it to 18 points in the fourth. Bethany Murrell led NP with 21 points and nine rebounds. Tori Stephenson added 12 points, five boards and four assists. Karli Rodebeck also had five rebounds. Kyleigh Smock added nine points. The Dragons next play Friday against Warren Central. Franklin Central was led by Kyleigh Archer's 12 points. The Flashes are now 0-2. The Dragons' win was the first varsity coaching win for first-year NP head coach Jacki Negri.

Mt. Vernon 51, Lawrence Central 36: The Marauders improved to 2-0 with their second double-digit victory of the year over an impressive Lawrence Central team. MV now heads into conference play Friday against defending state runner-up Rushville.

Greenfield-Central 53, New Castle 45: Doug Laker's club posts an impressive victory over potential sectional rival New Castle. The Cougars are now 2-1 on the year and face HHC rival Pendleton Heights Friday.
