Saturday redux

Two great games to watch today: #3 Mt. Vernon girls beat #4 Hamilton Heights 64-55, jumping up by as many as 17 points before Heights made a furious rally to get the MV lead to four points late. MV was led by Kayla Negley's 15 points and is now 4-0. It was a full team effort for MV. Jessica Brown hit a lot of FTs late, freshman Erica Moore was dominant in the third quarter, Anna Olson quarterbacked the defense and ran the boards.

HH defeats the new-look Marauder boys 58-54, despite a furious start by the Marauders. MV jumped ahead 24-12, but IU recruit Austin Etherington touched off a big run with a four-point play that got the Huskies back into it. Etherington had 16 points for the Huskies, while Quinn Williams had an excellent game for the Marauders, scoring 20 points and leading the Marauder defense.

Elsewhere in Hancock County, New Palestine's boys hung with New Castle, but fell 78-66. The Dragons next play Friday at home against Eastern Hancock.
