Saturday games

Mt. Vernon's boys take New Castle to the wire, but fall 61-52. The Marauders are now 2-7 on the season heading into next Friday's game at Rushville. It's another double-weekend for MV -- the Marauders will be home against Howe next Saturday.

The rest of the county's boys teams had the night off. EH (8-3) next plays at Shenandoah next Friday and at Union County next Saturday, facing two potential sectional foes on back-to-back nights. G-C (4-6), fresh off a win over MV, is off until next Saturday night when it hosts Triton Central. NP (5-5), which has played three straight overtime games, will visit Pendleton Heights in our Hancock County Game of the Week broadcast.

On the girls side, #1 Mt. Vernon is still unbeaten on the year, beating a strong Noblesville team coached by ex-G-C coach Donna Keck on the road today. The Marauders posted a 45-37 victory, and are now 14-0.

Both MV and G-C (7-7) are off until next Saturday. The Marauders next play an afternoon game at Shelbyville. The Cougars face New Palestine (6-6) in a game that we will broadcast live on HancockCountySports.com. NP has three big games next week -- against a strong Greenwood foe Tuesday, at Triton Central (12-1) on Thursday and then G-C at home Saturday night. EH (1-13) next plays Thursday at home against Morristown.
