Friday's coming

... and some good basketball.

First up, we have the very loaded Pendleton Heights Arabians, who may be 10-1, but they inexplicably aren't getting any votes in the Class 4A poll. With one of the state's top 1-2 punches in Butler-bound Kellen Dunham and fellow guard Kendall Waters, PH should be. Then, there are the New Palestine Dragons, the team that just plays overtime after overtime after overtime. NP has played 10 games this year, won five. Four of the 10 have gone to OT, and another was literally decided at the buzzer. Josh Penley has been playing very well for the Dragons and the supporting cast has been showing up big.

Chris Lambert & I are looking forward to bringing you this game Friday night, 7:10 p.m. airtime from PHHS. LISTEN LIVE!

Elsewhere in Hancock County:
Mt. Vernon (2-7) has a double-weekend upcoming against ranked teams. The Marauders face HHC co-leader and 3A #10 Rushville (9-1, 3-0) on Friday night in the Lions' den, then return home to face 3A #6 Indianapolis Howe (6-2) Saturday. On Jan. 22, the Marauders will face Knightstown in the second Wigwam Classic -- an all-day basketball affair that will feature LOTS of great hoops.

Greenfield-Central (4-6, 3-0) plays the second of three straight single weekends. The Cougars are off Friday, but host Triton Central Saturday. TC has dropped seven straight since winning its opener and has a game Friday night against conference foe Hauser.

Eastern Hancock (8-3) has a tough double-weekend of potential sectional foes. On Friday, the Royals travel to Shenandaoh (6-5), then go to Union County (9-2) on Saturday. UC and EH are two of the favorites in the very tough Hagerstown sectional.

Then, on Saturday
We bring you girls action, as the New Palestine Dragons (7-6) -- fresh off a 70-63 road victory at 2A #6 Triton Central -- host the Greenfield-Central Cougars (7-7). Airtime is 7:10 p.m. for this intra-county clash that will also be the Dragons' Shoot for the Cure Pink Game for breast cancer research. NP had four players in double-figures in the win over TC, led by Danielle Owens' 17 points and 13 rebounds. Again, CLICK TO LISTEN LIVE!
