Girls pairings

It's a matchup with two top 10 teams at Hamilton Heights when No. 1 Mt. Vernon meets No. 6 Rushville in the first semifinal game of their sectional. In Class 3A, No. 1 Mt. Vernon (18-1) will face No. 6 Rushville (13-6) -- the three-time defending sectional champ and last year's state runner-up -- in the first game on Friday night. MV won 56-33 in November. New Palestine (10-9) meets Shelbyville (4-14) on Tuesday night, with the winner facing host No. 4 Hamilton Heights on Friday.

In Class 4A at Muncie Central, Greenfield-Central drew a bye and will face the Anderson-Muncie Central winner in the semifinals. The Tribe and the Bearcats are both 7-12 on the year.

In Class 2A, Eastern Hancock (3-15) will face rival and defending champion Knightstown (14-5) at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9 in the opening round of the Centerville girls basketball sectional. Knightstown won the regular-season matchup 55-36 over the Royals.

In all sectionals, the semis will be Friday, Feb. 11 at 6/7:30 p.m., the finals will be Saturday, Feb. 12 at 7:30 p.m.
