Coming up ...

Some good basketball coming up this weekend, and Andrew & Chris will be on hand to bring it to you.

Friday night, we have girls action, as 3A #1 Mt. Vernon takes on county rival Greenfield-Central.

The two teams played in the county tournament, with MV winning 42-29 on the Cougars' home floor. This time, the action takes place on the Marauders' turf. MV is 16-0 and hasn't been challenged much -- the closest shaves were a 43-42 victory over Pendleton Heights on a FT at the buzzer and a come-from-behind 58-46 overtime win over New Palestine. The Marauders are led by guard Jessica Brown, defensive stalwart Kayla Negley and a solid post trio of Anna Olson, Indiana State recruit Makenzi Reasor and freshman Erica Moore -- a potential future Indiana All-Star. Not to mention 3-point shooter Rachel Houck, the Marauders are a team that has been very difficult to match up with and looks to go a long way in the Class 3A tournament.

G-C has been playing well since its loss to MV in the county, an overtime loss at New Palestine last week the Cougars' lone blemish since then. Point guard LaRae Cruz, shooter Kyra Tweedy and forward Katie Peters lead the Cougars' attack, and have led them to an 8-8 record heading into the season's homestretch.

Tipoff is 7:30 p.m. Join Andrew & Chris at 7:10 for the pregame show.

A couple of boys games also tomorrow:
Lapel (5-7) at Eastern Hancock (10-3)
The Royals won two close road games against sectional foes, and remain unbeaten against Class A and 2A competition. Lapel is always a good test, as the Bulldogs play in the tough Indiana Crossroads Conference. Our friends at HCSNRadio.com will be broadcasting the game beginning at 7:10 p.m. LISTEN LIVE here!

New Palestine (5-6) at Triton Central (3-7)

The Dragons head south to face a solid Tigers squad that won back-to-back games against Hauser and HHC leader Greenfield-Central last week. Josh Penley leads NP with 17 ppg.

Saturday night, there are a handful of games:
Shelbyville (8-4) at Greenfield-Central (4-7): The Cougars can take a big step toward HHC title contention with a victory. Shelby just knocked off Pendleton Heights last week.
Whiteland (4-7) at New Palestine (5-6): Big double-weekend for the Dragons as they look to pop above .500
Mt. Vernon (3-8) vs. Knightstown (5-6), 6 p.m. at the Anderson Wigwam: The Wigwam Classic has taken off as a big day on the sports calendar. MV is coming off a huge come-from-behind win over then 3A No. 6 Howe last week.

Also, a reminder that our friends at HCSNRadio.com will be broadcasting the Indianapolis City championship game Saturday evening from Arsenal Tech High School.

Next week, we will have two games: Connersville at Mt. Vernon boys on Friday night, and Greenfield-Central at Eastern Hancock boys on Saturday. Both broadcasts at 7:10 p.m.
