Volleyball: Dragons, Marauders meet in sectional final
Mt. Vernon beat a solid Shelbyville team in three games, 25-9, 25-20, 25-11; while New Palestine swept Rushville 25-17, 25-14, 25-13. The two teams meet at 7 p.m. tonight in the Hamilton Heights sectional final. Winner travels to either Greensburg or Batesville Tuesday for a one-game regional.

Girls cross country: NP's Edon headed to state meet

New Palestine senior Courtney Edon is headed to the cross country State Finals next week at the Indiana State University cross country course. Edon finished eighth in Saturday's Carmel semistate at Northview Christian Life Church, with a 5k time of 18:35. NP's Caitlynn Edon was 32nd in 19:25, the only other Dragon to finish in the top 100. NP finished 11th as a team. At New Haven, Mt. Vernon's girls finished 17th in the semistate. The Marauders were led by 67th-place Elizabeth Cook, who had a time of 20:32.

At New Haven, the Mt. Vernon boys finished 15th in their semistate race. MV was led by 78th-place Luke Davis, who ran the 5k course in 17:07. MV's Nathan Bode finished 86th in 17:13. At Carmel, Greenfield-Central finished 16th, led by a 63rd-place finish from Tyler Wilcher, who had a time of 16:44. G-C's Darren Wise was 88th in 17:11.
