Weekend roundup

Boys soccer: Mt. Vernon 0, Lawrence Central 0: The Marauders' defense was tight, as goalkeeper Nathan Livengood needed to make only one save to preserve the shutout and the tie for MV, which is now 6-2-1.

Boys soccer: New Palestine 5, Franklin 0: Steve Selke scored two goals, Wes Fox had a goal and an assist and Drew Dickerson had two assists in the Dragons' victory. Zach Weaver and J.D. Richardson also scored goals for the Dragons. Will Kramer had the shutout in net. NP is 8-0-1 on the year. Thursday's Dragons' game against Greenfield-Central will be broadcast live on HancockCountySports.com.

Boys soccer: Greenfield-Central 0, Heritage Christian 0: The Cougars moved to 4-3-2 on the season, posting the shutout draw against Heritage Christian.

Girls soccer: Mt. Vernon 0, Yorktown 0 (MV 4-3 PKs): The Marauders outshot Yorktown in a penalty kick shootout to win the HHC match. Jordan Slusher made two saves to register the shutout in net in regulation. MV is now 6-2-1 overall and 3-2 in the HHC.

Girls soccer: Greenfield-Central 7, Decatur Central 1: Taylor Titus and Julie Engh scored two goals each to lead the Cougars in the victory. Engh also had an assist. Taylor Brand added a goal and an assist for the Cougars. G-C is now 8-1 on the year.

Volleyball: NP wins 3 matches at Greenwood: New Palestine won three matches at the Greenwood Invitational, defeating Greenwood 25-23, 25-22 behind six kills and 10 digs from Emily Curry; Scecina 25-22, 25-11 behind 10 assists and five digs by Emily Larrabee; and Arlington 25-8, 25-7 with Curry's eight kills and Amara Khajenouri's seven digs leading the way. NP is now 11-3.
