Tuesday roundup

Boys soccer: Mt. Vernon 5, Yorktown 1
The Marauders improved to 5-2 on the season -- and 4-1 in the HHC -- with a big victory. MV took a 1-0 halftime lead on Caleb Young's goal, and then Alex Sayre, Mouhamed Kanate, Adam Luke and Trevor Johnson all scored second-half goals to give the Marauders the victory. Sayre, Jake Brown, Ben Hawkins and Eric Ahonen all had assists, while Nathan Livengood made two saves in goal. The Marauders next play Thursday at home against Greenfield-Central. Girls soccer: New Palestine 3, Mt. Vernon 0
The 20th-ranked Dragons remained unbeaten with a victory over MV, as Lindsay Meyer and Lauren Joray scored second-half goals. Alyssa Mouzin also scored a first-half goal for the Dragons, while Holly Hilton posted the shutout in net with four saves. Morgan Carpenter had two assists for NP, which is now 6-0-3 on the year.

Boys tennis: Mt. Vernon 3, Greenfield-Central 2
The Marauders swept the singles spots to beat the Cougars. Kendall Ryan, Bryce Bobb and Reid Eberhard won straight-set matches for the Marauders. At doubles, the Cougars' Daniel Sharrer and Garrett Mitchell won a three-set match at No. 1, while Ross Galbreath and Brad Prazeau won in straight sets at No. 2.
