Gibson throws 1 1/3 scoreless

Greenfield-Central graduate Kyle Gibson threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in tonight's All-Star Futures Game -- a contest pitting the top prospects from throughout minor league baseball played at Arizona's Chase Field. That is also the site of Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game.

Gibson allowed two hits in his time in. He came in with the game tied 3-3 in the sixth and the World team having scored three runs in the inning. The first batter he faced hit an RBI triple, but Gibson retired the next batter to end the threat. In the seventh, he allowed a leadoff single, then induced a flyout to left, a popout to first and then picked off the runner to end the inning.

Gibson, the Minnesota Twins' first-round pick in 2010, currently pitches for the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings in the Twins' system.
