10 a.m.: New Palestine (11-11) vs. Batesville (16-6)
11:30 a.m.: Danville (19-5) vs. #8 Roncalli (17-5)
8 p.m.: Championship

In the opening game, the Dragons (11-11) are what we've described all year -- an athletic, young team with no seniors that put everything together in the sectional. Half of NP's games have been decided by five points or less -- five in OT -- so the Dragons are battle-tested. They beat #4 Hamilton Heights 77-74 and avenged one of those OT losses to Shelbyville 66-55 in the sectional. On Friday, it was Josh Penley's 30-point night that led the Dragons, with three others scoring in double-figures. Penley added 16 points and 11 boards on Saturday to help lead a victory, with junior Taylor Rainey adding 19 points, Michael Morris 17 and Reid Clark scoring nine and pulling down 11 rebounds. To say things were balanced would be an understatement, as the Dragons had at least three players in double-figures each night. The Dragons have good balance, decent size, good quickness and some 3-point shooting that carried them to a sectional title.
Batesville (16-6) avenged two regular-season defeats to Greensburg with a strong defensive effort -- allowing 32 points in 32 minutes, including just three in the final quarter. Coach Aaron Garrett's squad led throughout. The two teams are similar size-wise, and some of the names from both the Dragons and Bulldogs will be familiar to each others' fans because quite a number of them play football -- in which NP and Batesville have played annually for the last eight years. Junior guard Cameron Fledderman and 6-4 senior forward Cody Cole led the Bulldogs with 12 points each in their 50-32 victory over Greensburg. Luke Williams, a 6-5, 210-pound center, added eight points and five rebounds.
The other game features #8 Roncalli and defending regional champ Danville. Roncalli is HUGE -- five players stand 6-foot-6 or taller, led by three players who average in double-figures -- juniors David Heckman and Ryan Weber and senior Collin Lynch. The Rebels beat #9 Brebeuf in the sectional title game at Beech Grove. Danville eliminated #3 Lebanon in the sectional opener, then went on to win at Lebanon. The Warriors have graduated 6-10 center Travis Carroll to Purdue, but the cupboard isn't bare for Brian Barber's club. Senior Tyler Hall averages 21.9 points and 7 rebounds per game to lead the way for a veteran squad with lots of tourney experience. The Warriors beat Mt. Vernon in the regional title game last year before falling to eventual champ Washington in the semistate.

End of the line
... the end of the line comes for Mt. Vernon, as the Marauders fall behind early and are unable to overcome the deficit against Danville, falling 47-43.
MV took a brief 8-7 lead after Danville scored the game's first five points, but the Warriors' Luke Fields answered with a quick 3, touching off a 9-1 run that put the Warriors ahead 16-9. MV scored the next five points before halftime, but every time the Marauders cut the deficit to two, Danville would push it back up to seven.
Travis Carroll was a big man inside for the Warriors. He limited MV's inside game early and did a lot of first-half damage, scoring nine of the Warriors' 16 first-half points. Jordan Widener, Danville's second-leading scorer, totaled 12 points, with eight coming in the third quarter. He hit a big 3 early in the fourth that helped stave off an MV run. Tyler Hall hit another big 3 after the Marauders had cut the deficit to two.
P.J. Hubert hit three big 3s after Danville pulled ahead by eight, and Daniel Turner tried to put MV on his back and carry the team, scoring 10 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter. But MV just couldn't get the ball with a chance to tie or take the lead late, and ran out of time.
Congrats to #1 Danville, which is now 25-1 headed into the semistate matchup with Washington.
It was a tremendous season for MV, which accomplished quite a bit -- sectional, HHC, county and Hall of Fame Classic champions. In the careers of Turner, Hubert, Jake Stafford, D'Armond Davis and Daniel Morales, the Marauders won three county and two HHC titles in addition to the sectional championship. They'll be remembered up there with the 1987 and 1991 teams as one of the special groups in MV basketball history.
It was also a tremendous year for us, and we have to thank you, the listeners, for making it happen. You've joined us for a fun ride throughout the year as we broadcast a lot of big moments for the Marauders, Dragons, Cougars and Royals. Chris Lambert and I have a lot of fun bringing the games to you and we certainly hope you enjoy listening and following the games. We get a lot of positive comments throughout the year, especially from expatriates from around the world happy to be able to follow their high school teams again. It's Mt. Vernon vs. Danville
The Mt. Vernon Marauders lead early and control the game throughout in a 45-30 win over #7 Greensburg this afternoon. MV scored the first 13 points of the game and then never saw the lead drop below seven the rest of the night. Jake Stafford had a big start, with seven first-quarter points, a couple of steals, a blocked shot and a couple of early rebounds. He finished with 10 points. D'Armond Davis had a game-high 13 points and was our Indiana Basketball Digest Player of the Game for his offensive, defensive and rebounding prowess, while Daniel Turner had 11. MV led 15-8 after a quarter, and extended the lead in the second despite scoring just four points (the Marauders outscored Greensburg 4-2 in the period).
Like a lot of Marauder opponents, Greensburg struggled to find shots against MV. Ty Miller got a few looks inside and finished with 12 of the Pirates' 30 points, but the Pirates never could make a serious run at the Marauders.
Tonight's foe is Danville, which had to pull a Houdini act to beat Brebeuf. The Braves led for much of the day and led by as many as seven points at 32-25.
