New Palestine's girls basketball team fell 47-44 to Franklin in a
close girls basketball game, in the championship in the Franklin
Tournament.
The Dragons and Grizzly Cubs traded the
lead several times, before the Cubs hit a FT in the final minute to take
a 45-44 lead. NP had a three-second violation with the ball with 15
seconds left. Franklin's Tori Fiddler hit two FTs with 13 seconds to go,
and the Dragons had two looks from 3-point range fall just short that
would've tied the game.
Bethany Murrell led the
Dragons with 18 points and nine rebounds. Tori Stephenson added eight
points for NP. The Parmer sisters led Franklin -- Tara scored 13 and
Shelby had 10, and the duo hit five 3-pointers between them.
NP is now 6-8 and next plays Jan. 10 at Greenwood. That game will be broadcast LIVE by HancockCountySports.com.
