New Palestine had some strong swims in a 3-way meet at Pendleton
Heights, in which the Dragon girls placed second. PH won with 149
points, NP had 134 and third-place Rushville had 34.
The
Dragons won three events. One victory came from the 200 free relay of
junior Emily Trimpe and seniors Jordan Rogers, Karen Emminger and Olivia
Ayer. They finished in 1:49.31, improving their time from their first
meet. The 200 medley relay made up of the same four girls finished in
2:05.51 and also won. Trimpe also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:13.29.
Seconds went to junior Katie Mustard in the 200 IM, Emminger in
the 50 freestyle, Claire Hornsby in the 100 butterfly, Rogers in the 100
freestyle, Erin Trimpe in the 500 freestyle and the 400 free relay team
of Rogers, Mustard, Emminger and Emily Trimpe.
NP coach Steve Maxwell cited Hornsby's second-place swim in the
butterfly, noting that it was just off her career-best time. "Her hard
work is paying off," he said.
