#1/4 New Palestine (7-0/5-0) at Greenfield-Central (5-2/4-1), 7 p.m. Broadcast www.hancockcountysports.com: HHC
title on the line in this one. These two teams split games last year.
Enjoy one of the state's top passing attacks against a very strong
secondary. Looking forward to seeing Connor Simmons and his receivers --
Josh Penley, Brandon Collins and more -- against G-C's athletic secondary of Derek Conley,
Matt Dickerson and Brant Boles. Join Andrew, Mike & Chris at 6:30 p.m. for the broadcast.
Delta (2-5 -- 4-3on field -- /2-3) at Mt. Vernon (5-2/3-2), 7 p.m.: Delta
got a nice victory last week but obviously misses Fuatavai. Mann had
his best game of the year last week, finding a pretty solid target in
Greenberg. MV's defense hasn't given up a regulation TD in nine quarters
despite not always having good field position to start -- the front 7
is as solid as anyone's. The Marauder defense was very impressive
against an athletic and talented G-C squad last week. No broadcast, but
updates available on the HancockCountySports.com broadcast.
Eastern Hancock (2-5) at #10 Shenandoah (7-0): The Raiders are unbeaten (again) and rolling through their schedule, but aren't receiving much respect from the polls. They will get it from a Royal team that is rapidly-improving -- including a narrow 13-10 road loss to a Milan squad that is in the Class A Top 10. EH had a nice win last week against Wes-Del, but this will be a challenge.
HHC games
Yorktown (4-3/2-3) at Shelbyville (1-6/1-4), 7 p.m. Broadcast: WSVX-96.5/1520 (www.wsvx.com).
The Tigers have been a sleeping giant -- beat Delta, gave
Greenfield-Central a game. They're a veteran team with some real
weapons, especially in the backfield with Brendon Barnes, and in the
secondary. Shelby is getting better -- especially on D. If the Bears can
get their big fullback going, they'll be OK. Their defense, led by
Ethan Runnebohm, has improved, but was put in some bad spots last week
against NP because of turnovers, which has been the Bears' biggest
bugaboo this year.
Rushville (2-5/0-5) at #9/9 Pendleton Heights
(6-1/4-1), 7:30 p.m. Broadcast: WIFE-94.3 (professional, no streaming),
WEEM-91.7 (student): The Arabians are an offensive machine this
year. Lyons & Furrow have had back-to-back 100-yard rushing games
and Patishall has a really accurate arm. Rushville is young and will be
strong in a couple of years -- when it's in the EIAC.
